Bernice Barrett-Brown. Here you will find a wide variety of subjects painted by Bernice including canal and river scenes; some of which have recently been launched as limited edition giclee prints numbered and signed and which are available for sale on-line from this web site. Bernice was born in Merseyside and studied for a degree in Fashion and Textiles in Liverpool, narrowly missing John Lennon as he left the term before! She achieved international success as a freelance designer in the home furnishings market producing designs for wallpapers and borders as well as bedding, curtains, blinds and upholstery fabrics. Her participation in exhibitions in London, Paris, Frankfurt and New York, Lille, Seoul and Tokyo resulted in worldwide sales. With a background in textile design Bernice’s experience in her use of drawing and painting along with her strong sense of colour, texture and pattern has resulted in a versatility in styles and techniques. Seeking all the while to expand her skills her passion for fine art has allowed her greater freedom of expression than the technical constraints of design. She paints in a variety of media, sometimes favouring one more than another but tending to prefer oils and acrylics although she is equally at home with gouache, water colour, pastels and pen and ink. Her paintings are in private collections in the U.S.A. and Canada as well as in the U.K. The gallery will be added to as more paintings are completed and Bernice hopes that your visit will be a pleasure and an experience you will wish to repeat. |
